The Bathtub

One of my biggest dreams in life is to have a claw foot bathtub in my bathroom. I don’t know why, but I’ve fantasised about this specific bathtub for as long as I can remember, so much so that I can see it as clearly as if I’d lived this dream in some past life.

I sit in this creamy white tub, reclining against the higher side and breathing deeply as the warm water, bubble bath, and salts wash away my cares. Beautiful golden sunlight streams in through the skylight, the only window in the bathroom, making the gold-toned faucets and clawed feet on the tub gleam. My head rolls back as I’m at peace, dangling my arms over the sides and enjoying an absolute silence that for once doesn’t feel so heavy.

The rest of this bathroom exists in some void, with no walls, no doors, no floor, and no colours or textures or tangibility. It’s like a solo performer on a stage, with the spotlight replaced with the skylight. But this bathtub, I can picture the bathtub and the experience of soaking in it and bathing in the light so vividly.

Perhaps you’ll be able to share and live in this dream with me one day.

XOXO, Adina
